Greece U16 win second consecutive Aegean Cup title
The Greek U16 national team claimed the Aegean Cup title for a second consecutive year, defeating Turkey 1-0 in this year’s final.
The Ethniki Paidon defeat the hosts, Turkey, 1-0 in Saturday’s final to claim the Aegean Cup title for a second consecutive year. Sourlis of Olympiacos found the goal that separated the sides at the final whistle. Last year’s final saw the two countries paired again where Greece won in a shootout after a 0-0 draw in regulation.
Greece claimed first placed in group play with seven points defeating Moldova (2-0) and Montenegro (1-0) before playing to a goalless draw against Russia. Turkey claimed top spot in the other group and the neighboring nations met in Sunday’s final where Greece prevailed in tight encounter.
