Greek Duo Interested In Impressive Lykogiannis
Babis Lykogiannis’ performances this season for Sturm Graz have given rise to fresh transfer gossip regarding his future. The Greek international is having the strongest season of his career in Austria with 20 appearances along with two goals and one assist in all competitions. With his contract set to run out this coming summer, the left-back has seen a few sides express serious interest in his services.
In Greece, AEK and Olympiacos have both shown a desire to sign the 24-year-old. Olympiacos are considered to be the frontrunners at the moment. Lykogiannis was born in Piraeus and came through the Olympiacos academy system so he has personal ties to the club. However, Olympiacos are also said to be the club that is prepared to spend more to bring the player in.
Lykogiannis’ market value is now in the €2 million zone. That figure has doubled since last season showing just how well Lykogiannis had played in 2017.
Besides interest from Greek clubs, there are also rumors suggesting that foreign clubs are keeping watch of the defender. English Championship side Leeds are said to be in the fold amongst others.
It will be of little surprise should the player make a move during the January transfer window. With only six months left on his contract, Sturm Graz may be keen to sell as otherwise they will lose the player for nothing come the end of the season.
The next month should be an interesting time for Lykogiannis’ future and it would not be a major surprise to see him return to Greece.
