Greeks Abroad Review: Decent Week For The Main Men
AGONAsport’s George Tsitsonis rounds up the performances of Greeks playing in other leagues in this week’s Greeks Abroad Review.
The more well-known Greeks abroad had a good weekend for their clubs ahead of the international break. The likes of Kostas Manolas, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, and Vasilis Torosidis contributed to their teams winning this past weekend. Manolas saw his Roma team pick-up a superb 2-0 victory away to AC Milan. Papastathopoulos kept his Dortmund side top of the table after a 2-1 victory away to Augsburg. Torosidis meanwhile was a late substitute and helped Bologna hold in a 2-1 win at Genoa.
Elsewhere, Panagiotis Retsos impressed again in Bayer Leverkusen’s 1-1 draw with Schalke. Tasos Donis’ Stuttgart may have lost, but the Greek international put in another decent shift for his new club. Andreas Tatos notched up another assist in Turkey, while Dimitris Siovas was fantastic in leading his Leganes team to a 0-0 draw against mighty Atletico Madrid. Finally, Jose Holebas provided an assist as Watford claimed a point at the death against West Brom.
Below is an individual overview of the performances of the main Greek players plying their trade abroad.
