Some of Greece’s top national team players put in some good shifts in this weekend’s action in foreign leagues. Of the most notable performances were German-based defenders Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Panagiotis Retsos. Borussia’s Dortmund’s Papastathopoulos managed to pick up a goal in his team’s 5-0 shellacking of Cologne.

Retsos meanwhile did not score, however the youngster managed to be voted Man of the Match after his splendid debut for Bayer Leverkusen in their 4-0 rout of Freiburg.

Elsewhere, Giannis Gianniotas got off to a strong start in Spain with Valladolid scoring on his debut while Ioannis Fetfatzidis notched his second goal of the season in Saudi Arabia. Turkish-based players Andreas Tatos and Andreas Vasilogiannis both got on the scoresheet while Tasos Karamanos managed an assist as a late sub in Portugal for Rio Ave.

AGONAsport gives you a player-by-player breakdown of how the Greeks abroad did over the weekend.
