Hasi’s Wishes Answered...Olympiacos Sign Ofoe
Besnik Hasi’s number one summer signing target, Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe, is officially a player of Olympiacos. The club announced their seventh signing of the summer on Sunday.
The “serial” surrounding Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe’s possible move to Olympiacos comes with a happy ending for all. Ofoe, who has been in Olympiacos’ transfer gossip since the beginning of the summer, is officially an Olympiacos player after putting pen to paper on a new deal with the Erythrolefki.
Although details about the deal have not been released, it is rumored that the 28-year-old signed a 2+1 year contract, with Olympiacos paying over 2.5 million Euros to Legia Warsaw for his transfer.
Last week, Ofoe was extremely close to a move to Russian club Krasnodar, however the deal was halted due to a last-minute disagreement between the two sides. Reports stated that Ofoe failed to pass his medical tests, but those reports were falsified. Olympiacos’ Giannis Vrentzos traveled to Poland earlier this week and finalized the deal with both the player and Legia Warsaw. Before signing with the Superleague champions, Ofoe underwent extensive medical tests (at Olympiacos and Legia), and signed with Olympiacos.
Ofoe began his career in Anderlecht’s academies before a callup to the club’s first team in 2007. He then joined Hamburg before returning to Belgium for Club Brugge where he remained for five season (2009-2014) making 165 appearances with 22 goals. After a short stay in England with Norwich City and Rotterdam United, he joined Legia Warsaw in 2016. Last season he made 42 appearances with the club in all competitions (5 goals and 14 assists) and was named the MVP of the Polish Ekstraklasa. He also has a cap with all of Belgium’s youth national teams and the men’s team, with his last appearance for his country back in 2012.
From the first day new boss Besnik Hasi joined Olympiacos, he wanted Ofoe at the Limani, feeling certain that he could take the team to the next level. With Ofoe being the seventh signing of the summer, the club’s administration is answering all of Hasi’s demands for the roster’s enhancements.
Ofoe follows the signings of Risvanis, Koutris, Cisse, Tachtsidis, Emenike, and Carcela as Olympiacos continue strong in the signings department. The Piraeotes will next move for a stopper with Jagos Vukovic of Konyaspor looking the favorite to join the Erythrolefki. Olympiacos are also in talks with Nantes for Gillet, who has stated that he wants to join the Superleague champions.
