Huge Jump for Greece in FIFA Rankings
Greece earned a point away to Belgium in World Cup qualifying resulting in a 7 place jump in the FIFA World Rankings from 46th to 39th.
Greece’s draw away to Belgium in World Cup qualifying not only kept them in second spot of Group H, but also provided a boost to their place in the FIFA World Rankings for the month of April. The National Team jumped 7 places from 46th to 39th and returned to the top-40 for the first time in a while.
The draw saw Belgium drop two places down to seventh while Greece’s other main opponent in qualifying, Bosnia, remained in 29th place. Both Cyprus and Estonia jumped 18 places to 96th and 101st while winless Gibraltar are tied at the bottom of the rankings in 206th place.
Brazil, who are the only team that have mathematically qualified for the World Cup, are atop the FIFA Rankings for the first time since 2010 having won their last ten outings. At the expense of Brazil was Argentina, who dropped to second. The remaining 8 teams in the top-10, in order, include Germany, Chile, Colombia, France, Belgium, Portugal, Switzerland, and Spain.
