Improvement from Greece against Italy
A much improved Greek team defeated Italy 73-70 in their second of three games at the pre-Eurobasket Acropolis International Tournament.
After a very worrisome result against Georgia (72-71 loss) in the first game at the Acropolis tournament, Greece put together a much improved performance against Italy and defeated the Italians with a narrow 73-70 scoreline. Greece put on a much better defensive showing, but another lacking offensive display will have Kostas Missas heavily worried just a week before the start of Eurobasket 2017.
Printezis led Greece with 19 points while Sloukas had a great overall game with 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Agravanis added 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Before tip-off, there was ruckus in the Greek team after tension between Bourousis and Pappas resulted in a physical encounter between the two players. However, the two quickly settled their differences and stated that they are on good terms. Pappas mentioned that this is not an uncommon occurrence as the two players were teammates at Panathinaikos last season and things should not be blown out of proportion by the media.
Greece will have their final test before the Eurobasket when they face a strong Serbian team on Friday night in the last match of the Acropolis International tournament.
