Insua arrives for Panathinaikos, Copenhagen increase offer for Zeca
A lot seem to be going on in the Panathinaikos offices as the transfer window comes to an end and the club prepares for their important game against Athletic Bilbao in Europa League qualifying.
Tomorrow, the Prasini will look to pull off a big surprise and overturn a 2-3 home defeat in the first leg when they travel to Bilbao for their second leg matchup in Europa League qualifying. In addition to the important Thursday fixture, the end of the transfer period is approaching and many open cases surround the club.
Panathinaikos are close to another addition as Emanuel Insua arrived in Greece to sign his new 3-year deal with Panathinaikos. The former Boca Juniors man will have annual earnings of €220,000. Upon his arrival, the 26-year old left back stated that he was happy to be a member of Panathinaikos’ family and is ready to help achieve the club’s goals for the season.
The Prasini and Udinese have agreed to a deal that sees the Italian side retain 40% of the player’s rights if Panathinaikos sell the player in the next 3 years.
Over the last few days, Carlos Zeca has been linked to a move to F.C. Copenhagen with the Danish side expected to increase their offer to Panathinaikos to acquire the player. According to sources, the Danes came with an initial offer of €1.5 million, which was quickly denied by the Prasini, and will return with an offer reaching up to €2.5 million. The player appears willing to move to Copenhagen, as he has agreed to a 4-year contract with an annual salary of €1 million (more than he currently receives at Panathinaikos).
If Zeca signs with the Danish champions, the Trifylli will surely move to replace their captain before the end of the month and one cannot count out up to three additions to the roster if Zeca or another player is sold. In any other case, sources mention that the club will proceed with a new signing only if a player departs before the end of the transfer window.
Finally, Fanis Tzandaris signed a 3-year contract with the Trifylli. The 24-year old, who is a personal choice of Marinos Ouzounidis, stated that he has overcome his injury and is ready to contribute in the green jersey. Tzandaris is a former player of PAOK, Olympiacos, and Panionios and will look to find his footsteps with the Trifylli.
