Despite Lubos Michel’s efforts keep the Serbian manager with the club, PAOK officially announced on Friday the parting of ways with coach Vladan Ivic. Although this was a matter of time, one last effort by PAOK was made to keep Ivic in Thessaloniki.

The 40-year old skyped with Ivan Savvides on Thursday with the two men discussing the current situation at the club. According to sdna.gr, Ivic stated that he did not like the current situation and that he had problems with people in the team. Savvides said that these issues could be resolved, however Ivic stood firm by his original decision (after the final playoff game with Panathinaikos) to resign from his position. The decision came by common consent and in a friendly environment from the two sides.

PAOK FC released an official statement: “PAOK FC announces the termination of Vladan Ivic’s contract by common consent. We thank Mr. Ivic for his valuable contribution to the club and the conquest of the Greek Cup. We wish him good luck.”

Following these events, PAOK are now in search of the man that will take charge of the team next season. While in communication with president Ivan Savvides, technical director Lubos Michel has already come up with a list of possible options. The new head coach must be qualified to work under the pressure that comes with coaching PAOK, who wish to pursue the league and cup titles in the upcoming season.

Moreover, the new boss must continue what has already been built at the club as the team’s displays in the second half of the season left a positive taste for the new season. Sources mention that PAOK will not proceed to many signings, as they look to build off of the existing backbone of the current roster and that 3-4 quality signings should be enough to take the team to the next level.
