Karnezis and Stafylidis to Start for Greece
Stefanos Kapino will sit in the Greek goal against Belgium while Stafylidis will likely play on the left wing position in Skibbe’s 4-2-3-1 formation.
According to SportFM’s Sotiris Tambakos, Stefanos Kapino will replace the injured Orestis Karnezis in the Greek goal in Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Belgium. Skibbe’s decision was largely based off Kapino’s convincing performance in last week’s derby between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos.
The German coach is likely to use a 4-2-3-1 formation with Torosidis (right) and Tzavellas (left) in the right and left back positions while Manols and Papastathopoulos look to hold off Belgium’s strong attack in the center-back positions.
Samaris will be one of two holding midfielders with Maniatis looking to have the edge over Zeca for the starting XI. In front of Samaris and Maniatis (or Zeca), Fortounis will be in the creative role while Mantalos plays to the right of him. Although naturally a left back, Stafylidis will be moved up to play on the left wing.
The sole striker will be Kostas Mitroglou who is in the form of his career at the club level and will look to transfer that form to the National Team.
