After falling to Asteras Tripolis on Sunday, Kerkyra will need some magic from the footballing gods to avoid relegation to the Greek second division. The islanders sit with just 21 points from 28 matches and can only catch 14th placed Lamia in the standings, who sit with 26 points. Both Apollon Smyrnis and AE Larissa secured their place in next year's SuperLeague after both teams picked up points on Sunday, leaving Kerkyra further behind in the standings.
Kerkyra can only be saved with one logical scenario: to win their remaining two matches and hope that Lamia lose both of their matches. This would put Kerkyra at 27 points and leave Lamia behind in 26 points.
There is also the tie-breaker scenario if the two teams finish level on points at the end of the season. In this case, overall goal differential will decide which team is saved from relegation due to the fact that the two teams played to two draws in their season fixtures. However, Lamia currently sit with a -14 goal differential while Kerkyra are at -28, a difference that cannot be realistically overturned in two matches. Thus, Kerkyra can only hope on the one scenario mentioned above to avoid relegation.
Lamia can secure safety with a win over PAS Giannina (home) or Larissa (away), or two draws, in their final remaining matches or if Kerkyra slip up against AEK (home) or Atromitos (away).
Platanias have already been relegated to Greek Football League after a very disappointing season with 10 points from 28 matches.
