Kolovetsios and Oikonomou called up by Skibbe
Dimitris Kolovetsios and Marios Oikonomou were called up by Michael Skibbe for Greece’s World Cup qualifying playoffs against Croatia.
Skibbe called up the two defenders after Kostas Manolas was handed a one-match suspension by FIFA and after Sokratis Papastathopoulos picked up an injury over the weekend with Borussia Dortmund. Manolas’ sure absence in the first leg and Papastathopoulos’ uncertain unavailability for the first leg (although he is likely to play) led Skibbe to the two new call-ups.
Marios Oikonomou will return to the national team after a lengthy absence (last call up in June for the road trip to Bosnia 0-0) while Panathinaikos’ Dimitris Kolovetsios earned his first called up to the Men’s team.
