Lod rescues point for Panathinaikos in draw with Asteras Tripolis
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 25
|Panathinaikos||1 - 1||Asteras Tripolis|
|Lod 87'||Manias 69'|
Finland midfielder Robin Lod struck a superb late equaliser to salvage a vital point for Panathinaikos against an impressive Asteras Tripolis at the Apostolos Nikolaidis stadium on Saturday.
Michalis Manias put the visitors, who beat high-flying PAOK 3-2 last weekend, ahead in the 69th minute, but Lod had the last word three minutes from full-time scoring from a difficult angle from Anthony Monier’s pass.
The draw was a fair result in the end, despite the fact that Asteras had narrowly edged the match in terms of passing quality and style of play, this was because Panathinaikos took their newly acquired never-say-die attitude from last weekend’s 1-1 derby draw with arch-rivals Olympiacos into this match.
The outcome is that Marinos Ouzounidis’ mean remain seventh, but they still have their sights on making fifth place, as they are just a single point behind Panionios, who currently occupy that spot. Tripolis are sixth and are one point better of the Greens.
