Lykogiannis makes moves to Serie A for Cagliari
Babis Lykogiannis will continue his career in the Italian Serie A with Cagliari after a 2.5 year stay in Austria with Sturm Graz.
The Greek international underwent the necessary medical tests on Wednesday and will sign a 4.5-year contract with the Italian Club with annual earnings expected to reach up to 1.4 million Euro (with bonuses). Sturm Graz will receive 600,000 euros from the deal, giving up one of their best players over the last two seasons.
Lykogiannis joined Sturm Graz in 2015 from Olympiacos and had two exceptional seasons in the Austrian Bundesliga. Last season, he was named the best left back in the league and earlier this year, received his first call up to the Greek national team during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. This season, Lykogiannis made 18 appearances for Sturm Graz with 2 goals and one assist.
The 24-year old left back will look to help Cagliari stay in the first division at the end of the season as the Sardinian club currently sit 16th in the Italian Serie A, five points clear of the drop zone. Cagliari are expected to officially announce Lykogiannis’ signing on Thursday.
