Manolas and Sokratis options to replace Bonucci at Juventus
Kostas Manolas and Sokratis Papastathopoulos are two names high on Juventus’ list to replace Leonardo Bonucci.
According to reports out of Italy, Juventus have Greece’s stopper duo Kostas Manolas and Sokratis Papastathopoulos, high on their list to replace Leonardo Bonucci, who recently made a move to AC Milan. Bonucci was the backbone of Juventus’ defense helping his side not only win the 2017 Italian Serie A title, but also leading Juventus to the 2017 UEFA Champions League final.
According to Tuttosport, Manolas is number one on Juventus’ list to replace Bonucci and the Torino club have already asked Roma about Manolas. The club based out of the Italian capital are set on selling the player for no less than 35 million Euros. A reminder that Manolas was very close to a move to Zenit for 35 million Euros, however a last minute disagreement between the defender and the Russian club halted negotiations.
It is worth noting that recently, Roma’s president stated that Manolas is not for sale and that he will remain at the club for the upcoming season. Manolas is a hot name in European football’s transfer gossip with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, and most recently Paris Saint Germain interested in the 26-year old.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who might leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, is also on Juventus’ list as a replacement for Leonardo Bonucci. Papastathopoulos’ contract with Dortmund ends next season.
It could very well be a “Greek derby” between Manolas and Papastathopoulos for a spot on the Juventus roster for the new season.
