Kostas Manolas scored Roma’s first goal in his side’s 1-2 win away to Qarabag in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League matchday 2 clash.
AS Roma recorded their first win in this year’s UEFA Champions League after defeating Qarabag 1-2 in Azerbaijan on Wednesday. Kostas Manolas led the way as he opened the scoring in the 6th minute with an impressive diving header after Pellegrini whipped in the cross from the right side. The goal was Manolas’ first of the season in all competitions.
Nine minutes later, Dzeko doubled Roma’s lead before Qarabag pulled one back in the 28th minute with Pedro Henrique, who is on loan at Qarabag from PAOK. Roma held on for the victory and jumped into second place in Group C with four points, leaving behind Atletico Madrid (lost to Chelsea) and the Azerbaijani champions.
