Mitoglou signs with Panathinaikos
Dinos Mitoglou has decided to leave collegiate basketball in the United States with Wake Forest and continue his professional career in Greece for Panathinaikos.
After weeks of many rumors surrounding Dinos Mitoglou’s future, the Greek forward will return to Greece to begin his professional career with Panathinaikos. The Prasini announced the signing of the 21-year old to a four year contract with Mitoglou set to earn a total of €2 million over the contract agreement. Mitoglou will essentially take the place of Antonis Fotsis, who did not renew his contract with the Trifylli and was released as a free agent.
Mitoglou, who is yet another Greek signing for Panathinaikos this summer, began his career at Aris in 2013 before moving to the United States for NCAA side Wake Forest. In his three year stay at Wake Forest, he averaged 9.27 PPG and 5.36 RPG. Mitoglou has made appearances with all of Greece’s youth national teams, helping the Greek U19 side to a fourth place finish at the 2015 World Championships.
Mitoglou was recently called up to pre-selection roster for the Men’s national team for the 2017 Eurobasket tournament and is considered one of the best prospects of Greek basketball.
