Mitroglou Becomes 10th Highest All-Time Scorer for Greece
Kostas Mitroglou scored the opening goal in Greece’s World Cup qualifier against Belgium climbing up to 10th in Greece’s all time scoring charts with 13 goals.
Mitroglou’s opening goal gave Greece an important point away to Belgium in Saturday’s World Cup qualifier as the two teams played to a 1-1 draw. Mitroglou scored his 3rd goal in this World Cup qualifying campaign and his 13th career goal with the National Team.
This moved him up to 10th in Greece’s all-time scoring charts, tied with Dimitris Salpingidis and Nikos Lymberopoulos while surpassing Thomas Mavros, Vasilis Tsiartas, and Stelios Giannakopoulos.
Next on the list is 9th placed Giorgos Sideris with 14 goals. Nikos Anastopoulos is Greece’s highest all-time scorer with 29 goals while Angelos Charisteas is second with 25 goals.
Mitroglou has scored 8 of his 13 goals with the National Team in World Cup qualifying in a total of 17 matches. The 29-year old has been in tremendous form at the club level having scored 17 goals in 17 matches in 2017.
