Mitroglou to return from injury in October
Kostas Mitroglou’s return to the pitch will take longer than expected and the Marseille man will likely make a full recovery by October.
Kostas Mitroglou has been troubled by an injury since August and his return to the pitch will take longer than expected. The Greek striker was unavailable for Greece’s World Cup qualifiers against Estonia and Belgium last week and his absence was quite noticeable in Greece’s attack in those matches.
Mitroglou, who signed with Marseille on deadline day, was expected to return on September 24th, but latest reports out of France mention that he will be available in October. His recovery will be prolonged, meaning that Mitroglou will likely be ready by the 9th matchday in the Ligue 1 when Marseille face Strasbourg. The 30-year old will miss out against Rennes, Amiens, Toulouse, and Nice in league play and matches against Konyaspor and Salzburg in the Europa League.
If Mitroglou is back in action by early October, he will recover just in time for Greece’s final two qualifiers against Cyprus and Gibraltar on October 7th and 10th.
