Nunic double fires AEL to victory
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 16
|Larissa||3 - 0||Apollon Smyrnis|
Marko Nunic bagged a second-half brace to spearhead Larissa to a comfortable 3-0 home success over SuperLeague strugglers Apollon Smyrnis in their first league match of 2019 on Saturday.
The 25-year-old Slovenian forward netted in the 63rd and 77th minutes of this Matchday 16 clash at the AEL FC Arena to add to an early sixth-minute strike from Fatjon Andoni and seal the three points for the home side.
Apollon, who had come into the match after the Christmas break on the back of their first win of the season against Xanthi in their previous outing, made life difficult for themselves by having Giannis Stathis sent off.
The 31-year-old journeyman defender was given his marching orders just five minutes into the second half after picking up his second yellow card of the match. After that point, it was all downhill for the visitors.
The result means Larissa move level on 18 points with 10th-placed Panionios, who are in action later on Saturday at OFI Crete, while Apollon remain rooted to the foot of the table with just five points.
