OFFICIAL: Araujo arriving on Thursday for AEK
It is official! Sergio Araujo will travel to Greece on Thursday and sign a one year loan deal from Las Palmas to AEK.
Last season’s fan favorite, Sergio Araujo will return to Greece for AEK for at least one more season. Araujo will join the Enosis on a one-year loan deal, that does not include a buy out clause at the end of the season, meaning the 25-year old will wear his beloved Kitrinomavro jersey once again.
AEK and Las Palmas had agreed to a deal yesterday, however the Spanish club changed the terms of the agreement and negotiations between the two sides ceased for a few hours on Wednesday. This afternoon, the two clubs eventually reached a new deal as Araujo’s desire to return to AEK and the intervention of Dimitris Melissanidis to handle the situation, played a major role in sealing the deal.
The one year loan deal will not include a buy-out clause at the end of the season, a term that was a deal-breaker for Las Palmas. Despite the absence of a buyout clause, Araujo pledged that he will do his very best to make a permanent move to AEK when the loan deal end next summer.
The AEK fans will welcome Araujo on Thursday when he arrives at the Eleftherios Venizelos airport as AEK’s rollercoaster ride to bring Araujo back to the club, results in a happy ending.
