OFI returned to winning ways with an emphatic 7:0 win over Panegialios while Aris comfortably defeated Apollon Larissas. Panachaiki moved further ahead in third while Aiginiakos and Anagennisi Karditsas grabbed important results in the fight to avoid the drop.
OFI returned to winning ways in style after demolishing Panegialios 7:0 in Irakleio. It was Manos who once again starred for the Irakleio based side by scoring a second half hat-trick. OFI secured the three points in the opening half with goals from Coelio (3) and an in-form Dina (26, 32). Manos netted a second half hat-trick to move up to 22 goals for the season (most in the Football League) while Coelio added his second of the night for the emphatic 7:0 OFI win. The result puts OFI back in first place with 68 points, one ahead of second placed Aris.
Two goals from Diamantopoulos and one from Platellas helped Aris to an easy 3:0 win over Apollon Larisas on Wednesday. The Thessalonikis took the lead in the 22nd minute through Diamantopoulos and seven minutes after the restart, Platellas added the insurance marker for the hosts. Diamantopoulos netted his second goal of the game in the 72nd minute, forming the final 3:0 scoreline. Aris remain in second place with 67 points, just one behind first placed OFI, and 10 ahead of third placed Panachaiki.
Panachaiki moved further ahead in third place after a 2:0 win at home over AE Karaiskakis. The Patra based side scored both goals in the opening 20 minutes with Kinigopoulos (2) and Masouras (19) finding the back of the net. The result moves Panachaiki six points clear of fourth placed AOX Kissamikos, who drew on the road against Anagennisi Karditsas.
Karditsa was the home to the midweek’s most entertaining match in the Football League as Anagennisi and AOX Kissamikos played to a 3:3 draw. Despite the visitors taking a 3-goal lead into halftime, the hosts miraculously sparked up a second half comeback to draw level with 3 goals in the final 27 minutes of play. The result moves Anagennisi tied with Aiginiakos on 35 points for the final safety spot.
Panserraikos moved further down in the relegation zone after dramatically losing to Aiginiakos in Serres. The visitors took the lead in the 44th minute through Peric and Panserraikos looked to have stolen a point when Enomo equalized in the final minute of play. However, Aiginiakos’ Sofianis found the winner in the second minute of stoppage time to give the visitors a possibly relegation saving three points. The result moves Aiginiakos level with Anagennisi Karditsas on 35 points for the final safety spot. Panserraikos moved further behind in 14th with 28 points.
In other action, Sparti defeated Trikala 1:0 to move up to 38 points, three points clear of the drop zone. Doxa Dramas defeated Apollon Pontou 3:1 as the two teams continue to occupy 5th (Doxa) and 7th place (Apollon Pontou), respectively.
Kallithea and Ergotelis were awarded wins over Veria and Acharnaikos, who have both withdrawn from the league.
