Aris gained ground on leaders OFI after defeating Panegialios in Thessaloniki while OFI dropped points in Drama. Panachaiki slipped at home to Panegialios as Ergotelis added three important points to their total in their fight to avoid the drop.
Aris pulled within one point of leaders OFI after defeating Panegialios 5:2 in Thessaloniki. The hosts opened the scoring in the 25th minute with Platellas but the visitors went into the break level thanks to Stamatis’ goal one minute before the halftime whistle. Aris put together a great display after the restart and goals from Diamantopoulos (50) and Bargan (56) gave the hosts a two goal cushion (3:1). Panegialios did not go down without a fight as Kokkoris pulled one back in the 59th minute, but Diamantopoulos’ second of the night (67) and Kanakoudis goal one minute from time, gave Aris the 5:2 victory. The result moves Aris up to 63 points, just one behind the league leaders OFI.
OFI’s tremendous 12-game winning streak came to an end in Drama as Doxa held the league leaders to a 1:1 draw. Macheras gave the visitors the early lead in the 7th minute and OFI looked to be cruising to their 13th straight league victory. However, former OFI player, Kouskounas, found the back of the net for the hosts to pull his side level on 65 minutes. The 1:1 scoreline remained at the final whistle with OFI moving up to 64 points, just one ahead of second placed Aris, while Doxa Dramas drop to 5th with 44 points.
Third placed Panachaiki slipped at home to Apollon Pontou as the two sides played to a goalless draw. This allowed AOX Kissamikos, who defeated Panserraikos 0:2 on the road, to pull within five points of third place, which could lead to promotion under certain conditions (if licensing issues arise for certain SuperLeague clubs).
Ergotelis grabbed another important win in their fight to avoid the drop as they dispatched Apollon Larissas 3:1 in Crete. Despite Tsiloulis’ goal in the 49th minute for the visitors, the hosts needed a span of six minutes (58-64) to net three goals with Cuypers, Stamatakos, and Patas and take home the three points. Ergotelis sit in the final safety spot with 30 points, just one point ahead of Aiginiakos.
In other action, Karaiskakis defeated relegation bound Kallithea 1:0 while Sparti were 2:0 winners at home over Anagennisi Karditsas, who are currently just two points clear from the drop zone.
Trikala and Aiginiakos were awarded all three points against Acharnaikos and Veria, who have withdrawn from the league.
