Olympiacos defeated Ethnikos Alexandroupolis 3-0 set to win their fourth straight League Cup title.
It was an easy night for Olympiacos in Syros as they cruised past Ethnikos Alexandroupolis in the 2018 League Cup final. A strong end to the first set saw Olympiacos pull ahead 1:0 with a 25-15 set victory and the momentum continued to start the second set, as an early lead allowed Olympiacos to comfortably take a 2:0 lead, by winning the second set with the same scoreline (25-15). The Erythrolefki never let up in the final set and comfortably won 25-13 to sweep Ethnikos Alexandroupolis and win their fourth consecutive League Cup title.
Olympiacos’ Jeroen Rauwerdink was named the MVP of the final. The Dutch player finished the semifinals with 10 points and the final with 8 points.
In the semifinals of the competition, Olympiacos defeated the hosts Foinikas Syrou relatively easily with a 3:0 scoreline while this year’s runner-ups, Ethnikos Alexandroupolis, swept Pamvochaikos 3:0.
It is Olympiacos’ fifth League Cup title in club history in just seven years since the start of the competition. The Erythrolefki are still in contention for three additional titles this season including the Greek Volleyball Cup, Greek Volley League, and Europe’s CEV Challenge Cup.
