Olympiacos closing in on a stopper
The search is over for a stopper at Olympiacos as the Erythrolefki are close to signing Jagos Vukovic from Konyaspor. The deal between the two clubs for the 29-year old defender is expected to finalize on Wednesday.
All looks as if Jagos Vukovic will be Olympiacos’ next signing in a busy last couple of weeks at the club. The Serbian stopper has already agreed to a 3-year deal with Olympiacos (annual earnings of €1 million) and all that remains for his move to be finalized is an agreement between the Superleague champions and Vukovic’s current club Konyaspor.
Olympiacos have increased their offer to the Turkish club to €2 million, however the Turks have not yet agreed to the amount. However, the two sides are expected to shake hands later today and Vukovic will travel to Belgium to join the rest of the team in pre-season training.
Vukovic will be yet another signing for Olympiacos’ starting XI for the new season after Ofoe, Emenike, Carcela, and Tachtsidis. The 29-year old Serbian defender is expected to partner with Panagiotis Retsos in the middle of the Olympiacos defense for the new season seeing that the 19-year old Greek defender has won over Hasi in pre-season training.
Vukovic will surely not be the last Olympiacos signing this summer, however the club is expected to hit the breaks in the signings department once this deal is complete. Hasi will have a full roster to work with in light of the upcoming Champions League qualifiers which began in just over two weeks.
Once the team returns from pre-season training in Belgium, there will be a clearer picture to the Olympiacos roster for the new season and multiple players are expected to be cut and depart the team before more enhancements arrive.
