Olympiacos make their statement from the get go
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 1
|Olympiacos||4 - 1||Larissa|
|Fortounis (P) 33', 76'

Olympiacos put together a dominating display against Larissa to kick off their title defense with a 4-1 win at an empty Karaiskakis stadium.
Olympiacos began their title defense at an empty Karaiskakis stadium (due to a closed stadium ban) against Larissa. The hosts got off to a slow start but a clumsy handball by Farkas in the penalty area resulted in a spot kick for the Erythrolefki, which was successfully put away by Fortounis in the 33rd minute.
Olympiacos took a 1-0 lead into the break and in the second half, the Superleague champions picked up the pace and began to create multiple chances on goal. Ansarifard doubled the hosts’ lead in the 68th minute after tapping the ball into the net from a perfect low cross pass from Pardo.
Larissa got a lifeline in the 71st minute, when Figueiras deflected a cross from the right side into his own net, bringing the Vyssini with one goal. However, the same player re-gave Olympiacos a two goal advantage four minutes later when his left footed effort left Bozovic stunned in the Larissa goal as the ball trickled into the net.
A tremendous build up and a fantastic backheel from Ansarifard set up Fortounis for his second goal of the game just a minute later after Figueiras’ goal and Olympiacos marched on to a 4-1 victory to start off the season.
