Olympiacos’ won 3-0 away over Dinamo Krasnodar to make the final of the CEV Women’s Challenge Cup.
After just narrowly defeating the Russians 3-2 at home in the first leg, getting the win away seemed like an extremely difficult task for the Erythrolefkes.
The first set began with both teams being just about equal, as Olympiacos held a narrow 13-12 lead early on. They were able to extend that lead to 21-18, but would need to play well enough to hold on and win the set. That is exactly what they did, as Olympiacos took the first set 25-20.
Olympiacos absolutely dominated the second set, as they took it 25-15. The Russians proved to be no match for the Greeks in the third set as well, with Olympiacos winning that one easily, by a score of 25-13.
Olympiacos will now face Bursa BBSK in the final, in a rematch of last year’s final (which the Turks won). The first leg will be played in Greece on April 4, and the second leg in Turkey will take place on April 11.
