Oscar Garcia rumoured to be in talks with Olympiacos
In recent reports, it’s rumoured that Greek champions Olympiacos are in negotiations to appoint another new head coach. According to the Spanish media, 44-year old Oscar Garcia is about to become the Thrylos manager.
Spanish media outlets have stated that Oscar Garcia is close to taking over Olympiacos, with club representatives reported to be in Barcelona finalising contract talks. It was initially written that Garcia had flown to Athens for negotiations, however this has been confirmed as not holding any truth.
It is expected that Garcia’s appointment will be officially revealed in the next couple of days. Nevertheless, Olympiacos are keeping quiet about the matter. The Super League leaders haven’t commented on the issue either way, suggesting that there could be a formal statement in the near future.
Since finishing his playing career, Oscar Garcia has managed in Spain, Israel, England, Austria and France. His biggest success came with Red Bull Salzburg, where he achieved the Austrian double in 2016 and 2017. Garcia joined Saint-Etienne for the 2017/2018 campaign, but he left in November after just five months in charge.
