Panathinaikos Back in the Hunt for 4th Place

Panathinaikos easily defeated Armani Milano 74-61 and with Fenerbahce’s loss to Maccabi Tel-Aviv, the Prasini are back in the hunt for 4th place in the Euroleague regular season. It will be due or die matchup against Baskonia on Thursday.
Panathinaikos showed their superiority over Armani Milano in today’s Euroleague clash in Athens as they recorded a rather easy 74-61 win over the Italian side. The win moves Panathinaikos’ record to 16-11 in this year’s Euroleague while fourth placed Fenerbahce, who shockingly fell to Maccabi Tel-Aviv at home, dropped to 17-10. The results now bring Panathinaikos within two wins of the Turkish club with only three games remaining.
In the final three games, Panathinaikos will need to record two more wins than Fenerbahce to steal fourth place and have home court advantage in the playoffs. Panathinaikos’ final three games consist of Baskonia (away), CSKA Moscow (home) and Maccabi Tel-Aviv (away) while Fenerbahce travel to Efes and Real Madrid before hosting Barcelona. Panathinaikos due or die match will be on Thursday when they travel to Baskonia, who also sit with a 16-11 record.
As for today’s game, Panathinaikos conserved their energy for Thursday’a big matchup against Baskonia as they had no trouble defeating Armani Milano. Panathinaikos gained a double digit lead in the first half which they held onto until the end of the game.
Both Calathes and James finished with 13 points while Pappas and Rivers each scored 10 points.
