Panathinaikos Begin Planning for Next Season
Despite the upcoming Superleague playoffs, Panathinaikos have begun planning for next season.
Big decisions will be made in the upcoming meeting between President Giannis Alafouzos and the heads of the football department, coach Marinos Ouzounidis and technical director Nikos Lymberopoulos. One thing that is expected to play a key role in next year’s planning is the rumored 33% decrease in the budget.
The Prasini have already decided which positions will be filled with summer signings as the priority falls on right and left wing backs, a central midfielder, a winger, and an attacking midfielder.
As for players likely to leave the club this summer, Chouchoumis, Mesto, Panagiotis Vlachodimos, Vemer, Luke Steele, and Rinaldi are on their way out, not having fulfilled the team’s expectations. As for the players that are out on loan including Ajagun, Donis, and Wakaso, none of them are expected to continue in Paiania.
Panathinaikos will fight to keep Klonaridis and M’poku, who are on loan at the club, as they have truly helped the team this season. Sebastian Leto’s contract ends this season and it is expected to be renewed over the summer.
