One of the fan favorites of Panathinaikos, Sebastian Leto, will not be wearing the Green jersey come next season. The club announced on Thursday that they will not renew the Argentine's contract which ended today. Leto signed with Panathinaikos in February 2016 for the second time in his career after a four year stay with the club from 2009-2013 where he moved from arch rivals Olympiacos.
Since joining Panathinaikos in 2016, Leto made 46 appearances for the Trifylli while scoring 16 goals in all competitions, his most recent goal coming against AEK in the Superleague playoffs where Panathinaikos were victorious 1-0.
Although Leto expressed his desire to stay with the Athenian club, both coach Marinos Ouzounidis and technical director Nikos Lymberopoulos decided that Leto will not be a part of the team's plans for next season. According to reports, the decision was strictly tactical and did not have to do with any off the pitch matters.
