Panathinaikos dispatch Platanias to finally pick up a win
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 16
|Panathinaikos||2 - 0||Platanias|

The smiles returned to the faces of Panathinaikos players on Saturday as the Greens defeated struggling Platanias 2-0 to record their first win since October.
Marinos Ouzounidis’ team, who had last tasted victory in the SuperLeague back on October 28 with a 1-0 derby win over Olympiacos, finally stopped the rot in the first game of 2018 thanks to a pair of penalties from Argentine midfielder Lucas Villafanez.
But the scoreline wasn’t a true reflection of the game as Panathinaikos dominated proceedings at the Apostolos Nikolaidis stadium with a stylish performance, chalking up a total of 25 attempts on goal in a one-sided matchday 16 clash.
Villafanez scored from the penalty spot in the 72nd and in the second minute of added time to condemn bottom club Platanias to their 12th defeat of what has been a dismal season for the Cretan club.
Despite the win, Panathinaikos’ poor league form means the Greens are still down in the unusual surroundings of ninth place with 19 points - 16 points behind league leaders Olympiacos.
