Panathinaikos made it five wins from five while Olympiacos collected their fourth straight win in the Greek Basket League following wins over Panionios and Rethymno respectively on Sunday.

Panathinaikos defeated Olympiacos at the Peace and Friendship Stadium on Friday, and the Trifylli made it two wins from two on the weekend as Panionios proved to be no match for the reigning Greek Champions.

Panathinaikos surged ahead early to take a 32-14 lead after the opening quarter before cruising to an 89-66 win. Marcus Denmon was a protagonist for Panathinaikos with his 21 points, while Avery Woodson tallied 13 points in response for Panionios.

The win keeps Panathinaikos alone atop the Greek Basket League standings, while Panionios are still in search for their first win on the season at 0-5.

Olympiacos rebounded from Friday’s loss to Panathinaikos with a 90-72 win over Rethymno. Brian Roberts scoring 18 points to lead his side in scoring.

Rethymno kept the Piraeus giants in check as the first half ended even at 39-39, with Olympiacos mustering a slim 4-point lead in the third quarter. Olympiacos would, however, take control in the final frame as the Erythrolefki went out on a 21-7 run to take control of the game in the fourth quarter.

The win sees Olympiacos remain in a two-way tie for second spot with Promitheas at 4-1, while Rethymno are now 1-4 after three consecutive defeats.
