The Athenian giants have been plagued by financial trouble throughout the season and have gotten off to one of the worst starts in club history in this year’s SuperLeague. Things are at an all-time low as the club’s future remains bleak.
According to the newspaper the Prasini, Panathinaikos barely had the funds to cover the expenses for Wednesday’s Cup match against Lamia and might not have enough cash flow to cover the team's expenses for accommodations in Livadeia for their Saturday league fixture against Levadiakos. The Trifylli are in dire need of revenue to cover day to day to expenses and the club will inevitably sell players (i.e. Kourbelis, Moledo, Lod, Hult) during the winter transfer window to produce some sort of cash flow.
