Today’s visitors arrived in Lamia with a slender 1:0 advantage from the first match, but two early goals ensured their comfortable progress.
The deadlock was broken within seventeen minutes, as Fiorin Durmishaj twisted inside the penalty area and fired a low attempt into the left corner. On the half-hour mark, the tie was practically over as a contest. Lamia goalkeeper Nikolaos Melissas failed to hold a looping pass aimed towards his goal, allowing Georgios Masouras to lash the ball into the gaping net.
Nevertheless, Lamia weren’t prepared to go down without a fight. Wanderson halved the deficit on the night, curling a wonderful effort in with the help of the left post. Anestis Anastasiadis should have made it a 2:2 game before half time, however he contrived to head wide at point blank range.
In control of proceedings, Panionios duly killed off the match early in the second half. Durmishaj grabbed his second of the game, heading a corner past the goalkeeper. Substitute Lazaros Lamprou scored with a brilliant deft lob in the final stages, securing Panionios’ 5:1 aggregate win and qualification for the Greek Cup semi-final stage.
