Panthessaliko Stadium to Host Greek Cup Final
The Hellenic Football Federation announced today that this year’s Greek Cup Final between PAOK and AEK will take place at the Panthessaliko stadium.
Next Saturday’s Greek Cup Final between AEK and PAOK will take place at a neutral ground, the Panthessaliko stadium in Volos. Kick off is scheduled for 8:30 PM local Greek time (1:30 PM EST).
The stadium, which was built for the Olympic games in 2004, has a seat capacity of 22,700 meaning that each team will receive just over 10,000 tickets. The Panthessaliko stadium has hosted the Greek Cup final on one other occasion, in 2007 when Larissa defeated Panathinaikos 2-1.
Despite the federation's announcement of the venue, there are many issues that need to be addressed when the members of EPO visit the stadium tomorrow. According to Tasos Milanos, the man responsible for the stadium, the venue lacks security cameras and it is yet to be known if the Volos Police Department has the ability to keep the grounds safe and help host such a big match between two rival teams. Thus, it would not be irrational if EPO decided to change the location!
The Greek Cup final will be broadcasted and available for purchase via AGONAsport. Details coming soon...
