PAOK cruised into the Europa League playoffs after securing a 2-0 home win over Olimpik Donetsk on Thursday at the Toumba to complete a 3-1 aggregate victory in their third round qualifying tie.
First-half goals from Robert Mak and Gojko Cimirot proved enough on the night for PAOK to finish the job their began last week with a creditable 1-1 draw in the Ukraine, and the Black and Whites can now look forward to Friday’s playoff draw.
PAOK, who are aiming for a fifth straight UEFA Europa League group stage participation, were on control of this match for long spells, and the home fans early nerves were settled by Mak who scored a brilliant solo effort after 24 minutes.
Cimirot then doubled the SuperLeague side's lead with a long-range shot on the stroke of half-time, and it was a goal which took the wind out of Olimpik, who failed to rouse themselves in the second half as PAOK held firm for the win.
