Goals from Diego Biseswar, Vierinha and Yevgen Shakov guided Razvan Lucescu’s unbeaten league leaders to another three-point haul which keeps them ahead of the chasing pack in the title race.
Panionios struggled to muster an attacking threat against their opponents from Salonica and their cause was not helped by the first-half sending off of Peter Makrillos, who received his marching orders for picking up two yellow cards.
THE MATCH
PAOK began on the front foot and were ahead after 11 minutes thanks to a brilliant piece of individual skill by Biseswar. The Dutch midfielder dribbled past Panionios defender Dimitris Stavropoulos before clipping home a shot from just outside the penalty area.
Panionios offered little in the way of an attacking threat and their lives were made more difficult when Makrillos was sent-off after being booked a second time for a foul on Biseswar.
PAOK made it 2-0 on the stroke of half-time through captain Vierinha, who scored with a clinical first-time shot following good work by Omar El Kaddouri.
It seemed only a matter of time before a third goal would come and sure enough it arrived in the 69th minute through Shakov. The Ukrainian midfielder controlled a neat pass from Mauricio before scoring with a measured shot.
