Nearly a month after his release from the Sacramento Kings, Georgios Papagiannis appears to have found the next stop in his NBA career.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported late on Tuesday night that the 20-year-old center has agreed to join the Portland Trail Blazers on a 10-day contract.
The Kings opted to waive Papagiannis on NBA trade deadline day after it was deemed he was a surplus at the Golden 1 Center.
Papagiannis was acquired by the Kings in a draft day trade with the Phoenix Suns, who selected the former Panathinaikos big man with the 13th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Despite being highly rated by Kings GM Vlade Divac, Papagiannis never got much of chance in Sacramento and ended spending most of his short stint with the Kings with their G-League affiliate.
Papagiannis made 16 appearances for the Kings this season, averaging 2.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
It is unclear what role Papagiannis will play with the Trailblazers, who have won seven straight games and currently sit third in the NBA’s Western Conference.
