Not only did Miralem Pjanic fail to lift his first Champions League title, the Juventus star left Saturday’s final against Real Madrid in the 71st minute with an injury. After the game the Bosnia international stated “I have an injury on my knee and the pain is uncomfortable. At this moment, I am hurting a lot, but we will see in the upcoming days if it is something serious.”
Pjanic will return to Bosnia today and will undergo the necessary medical tests to see the extent of his injury, which will ultimately decide his availability for Bosnia’s qualifier against Greece on Friday,.
Bosnia’s goalkeeper coach said “Pjanic will come today and we are awaiting to see what condition he is in. We hope he is well and that he can play. He will undergo an MRI today and tomorrow we will know. Even if he is unable to play, he will remain with the team to support his teammates. Rade Krunić has already been ruled out as he will not be ready in time to play.”
Pjanic is arguably Bosnia’s best player and helped score his side’s only goal against Greece in a 1-1 draw earlier in the qualifying process with a free-kick that hit Karnezis’ back, that was ruled an own goal.
A reminder that Schalke’s defender Sead Kolasinac is suspended for Friday’s fixture.
