Yesterday, Panathinaikos defeated Olympiacos 51-66 in game five of the Greek Basket League Finals series to win their 35th league title in club history. One day later, the players and coach staff celebrated the championship with their passionate supporters at the OAKA Indoor Hall in a “Fiesta” organize by the club.

All the big names were present including both Pavlos and Dimitris Giannakopoulos as well Panathinaikos basketball legend Dimitris Diamantidis. The celebration began at 9 PM local time with the players entering the court one by one as the fans chanted their names.

Dimitris Giannakopoulos spoke first about the great club that is Panathinaikos and did not forget to mention the clubs legendary basketball player, Dimitris Diamantidis, with the fans chanting “Oe Oe Oe, Diamantidis.” A reminder, that the former Panathinaikos Captain retired at the end of last season after a tremendous career with the club.

Then a tearful Pavlos Giannakopoulos took the floor and thanked everyone for coming to the celebration and for their support of the club. He went on to thank the players for winning another title for Panathinaikos. There is no doubt that Pavlos Giannakopoulos’ big love in life is Panathinaikos as no one can forget what he said last year “When I day, I want you all to bury me with Panathinaikos’ flag.”

The captain and coach, Nick Calathes and Xavi Pascual also spoke to the fans thanking them for their support over the season and for their presence at today's celebration.

The trophy presentation followed with captain Nick Calathes taking the trophy and joyfully lifting it in the air, signifying Panathinaikos’ return to the top of the Greek basketball. Each player then took the trophy as the fans celebrated the clubs 35th league title.
