Prijovic signs new PAOK contract until 2022
Earlier this week, PAOK Thessaloniki announced that star striker Aleksandar Prijovic signed a new deal which will keep him with the Dikefalos until 2022.
Following the weekend’s debacle against Olympiacos at the Toumba Stadium, PAOK fans were in need of some positive news to help lift them. Their wish came true, as PAOK announced on their official website that the 27-year old Serbian had put pen to paper on a new four-year contract: “PAOK FC announce the extension of Aleksandar Prijovic’s contract. The top scorer of the Double-Headed Eagle agreed to remain in Toumba Stadium until 2022.”
However, PAOK had to work hard to keep hold of their star man. Prijovic, who has scored an impressive 13 goals in just 20 Super League appearances this season, was subject of huge interest from China. According to reports in the Greek media, Prijovic was offered four million euros a year by Chinese clubs. PAOK received bids of around eight million for the forward, but they refused to accept the money and ended up increasing Prijovic’s wages in order to persuade him to stay in Thessaloniki. Following the new deal, Prijovic will earn 1.5 million every year with PAOK, instead of his previous salary of 700 thousand euros.
After Wednesday’s 3:1 victory against Panionios in the Greek Cup, Prijovic commented on the contract: “I am happy that PAOK showed strength and power in this situation,” stated the Serb. “There was interest, but this is done and I’m only focusing on PAOK. I am prepared to stay a long time here.”
