Rey to be PAOK’s No. 1, Zenit announce Mak’s loan move
PAOK have chosen Rodrigo Rey as the club’s new goalkeeper for the new season, taking over for the injured Panagiotis Glykos. Zenit officially announced Robert Mak’s one-year loan move to Thessaloniki.
PAOK have turned to Rodrigo Rey to fill the gap of the injured Panagiotis Glykos for the new season. The 26-year goalkeeper will arrive in Thessaloniki within the next 24 hours to undergo the necessary medical tests and sign a new deal with the Dikefalos tou Vora. Mexican international Gustavo Ochoa was also high on PAOK’s list, however it looks as if he will continue his career with Standard Liege after recent developments.
Rey will join PAOK from Argentine club Godoy Cruz where he has played since 2014. He has made 67 appearances for the club and was highly regarded as one of Godoy Cruz’s top players in his three year stay with the Primera Division side. The details of the deal are not known however sources state that PAOK will pay the Argentines a €1.5 million transfer fee with Rey expected to sign a 3-year deal.
Robert Mak, who joined PAOK’s pre-season training in Holland yesterday, will play on loan with the Thessalonikis for one year from Zenit. The Russian club officially announced Mak’s move to Thessaloniki earlier today, however they did not make known the details of the deal including if there is a buy-out clause at the end of the season.
With the signings of Rey and Mak, PAOK have filled two big gaps in the roster. The club will only proceed with a few additions this offseason as they use their current players as the backbone to build this year’s roster.
