On Wednesday, Brazilian club Internacional officially announced that Rodrigo Moledo signed a contract with the team, a deal which will begin on July 1st after his current agreement with Panathinaikos runs out. The revelation came as bad news for the Greens. Taking into account the terrible financial situation surrounding the fallen Athenian giants, Panathinaikos were eager to sell Moledo in the winter to receive well-needed money for the 31-year old.

However, Panathinaikos could yet be saved. PAOK, who have been chasing Moledo for the past few weeks, are focused on loaning the Brazilian from the Greens for the remainder of the 2017/2018 campaign. Yes, Moledo will then transfer to Internacional in July whatever happens, but PAOK are confident that Moledo can help the Thessaloniki club win the Super League this season.

According to gazzetta.gr, PAOK are offering Panathinaikos 300,000 euros for Moledo’s loan, including the services of Ergys Kace and Dimitris Konstantinidis for the second half of this season. Reports in Greece state that final negotiations are now underway between the two clubs, suggesting that Moledo could become a PAOK player in the coming days.

This is at least some positive news for Panathinaikos. Losing such a key player such as Moledo, one of the Super League’s leading defenders, is never good, but 300 thousand euros will at least help the Trifylli to an extent in their financial plight. The loans of Kace and Konstantinidis won’t cost Panathinaikos a penny either, meaning that the team will be gifted two new faces for free.
