Gonzalo Rodriguez has openly expressed his will to join Olympiacos for the upcoming season saying to his manager “I want to play at Olympiacos. I am very interested in this prospect. They are a great team that will give me the chance to play on the European stage and the Champions League.”

According to Italian site “calciomercato.com,” the Erythrolefki appear to have offered the 33 year old player a contract with annual earnings of €1.3 Million. Despite the great offer, the player’s manager (Raul Iglesias) stated that this might not be enough as many teams are interested in Rodriguez, mainly Lazio. To Olympiacos’ favor, the club’s new technical director, Mario Armando Husillos, has an excellent relationship with both the player and his manager.

That being said, the Erythrolefki have set Rodriguez as the number one summer target for the backline as he is capable of bringing the defense to the next level. With Olympiacos close to signing Besnik Hasi as the club’s new head coach, more developments about his move to Piraeus are expected in the coming days.

Panionios’ goalkeeper Andreas Gianniotis, on loan from Olympiacos, seems to be on his way back to the Limani. After a great two year spell in Nea Smyrni, the young goalkeeper is expected to join Olympiacos and become the team’s second goalkeeper behind Stefanos Kapino. The Erythrolefki believe in the young player’s talents and have already offered him a contract renewal as his current contract expires in 2019.
