If AEK manage to bring back either Araujo or Scocco, it would be considered a huge summer signing achievement for the club. For the time being, news coming from both Newell’s Old Boys and Las Palmas is inviting for the Enosis. Both players seem to have issues with their current clubs and AEK are optimistic about seeing both players in the Kitrinomavra outfit once again.
Based on his remarks in his last press conference, Nacho Scocco looks to be on his way out of Newell’s Old Boys. He accused the club of mistreating its players while lacking consistency with player payments as well. Several media outlets from Argentina inferred that his statement expressed his desire to leave the club. Journalist Federico Rosolani tweeted: “Scocco talked in a harsh matter after the training session. He made clear that it is almost impossible to continue with the team after June.”
The developments for Sergio Araujo’s move back to AEK also appear to be optimistic. Although AEK understand that they will likely have to wait until mid August in order to clear up Araujo’s return to Athens, the fact that Las Palmas are currently moving to sign attackers is a good sign for the “Enosis”. The Spanish Club are looking to renew Jesé’s loan from Paris Saint-Germain while hoping to sign Gabriel Barbosa from Inter, on a one year loan deal. Given that neither Tana or Livaja are leaving the club, Las Palmas are open to discuss Araujo’s return to Greece.
As far as departures are concerned, AEK have released former captain Christos Aravidis and goalkeeper Ilias Vouras. Both players had been previously informed that that their contracts, which expire this summer, will not be renewed and AEK FC proceeded with the following statement:
“AEK FC have informed Christos Aravidis and Ilias Vouras that their contracts, which expire in the summer, will not be renewed. We thank both players for their contribution to the team over the years and they will always have our love and respect”.
