Sokratis fit to play against Croatia
Sokratis Papastathopoulos will be available for Greece on Thursday for the first leg matchup against Croatia.
The Borussia Dortmund captain completed Wednesday's training session with the rest of the team and was ruled fit to play on Thursday in Zagreb. Sokratis suffered an injury over the weekend with Dortmund, but the 29-year old was determined to do everything in his power to be ready for the first leg playoff. Papastathopoulos will be partnered by Kyriakos Papadopoulos in the defense (Kostas Manolas is suspended).
On the other hand, Vasilis Torosidis will likely begin on the bench as to not risk further damage to his first degree muscle strain in order to be 100% ready for Sunday’s second leg in Greece. Panagiotis Retsos is expected to take the Greek captain’s place in the starting line-up in the right back position.
The Croatian camp also had some good news on Wednesday as Mario Mandzukic completed training on Wednesday and will likely start for the hosts on Thursday. Mandzukic also suffered an injury over the weekend, but pulled off a speedy recovery to be fit for the first leg.
