Sokratis Named MVP of the Week in Germany
Sokratis Papastathopoulos was named the MVP of Matchday 29 in the German Bundesliga!
Over the weekend, Sokratis Papastathopoulos helped Borussia Dortmund to a 3-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in Matchday 29 action of the German Bundesliga. The Greek defender was not only a rock in Dortmund’s backline, but he also scored a tremendous goal (maybe the best of his career) to re-give his side a 2-1 lead just after the half-hour mark.
As a result, he was named the MVP of Matchday 29 in this year’s German Bundesliga, earning the honor for the first time in his career. He became the first center back to win this award this season and only the second defender to do so, after his teammate in the right back position Lukasz Piszczek was named MVP of Matchday 21.
Sokratis earned 48% of the votes while Max Kruse finished well behind the 28-year old with only 26% of the vote.
