Struggling Platanias sunk by Rosa’s samba magic
GREEK SUPERLEAGUE - MATCHDAY 21
|Panetolikos||3 - 0||Platanias|
Platanias’ SuperLeague future is looking increasingly bleak after the Cretans succumbed to the magic of Panaitolikos’ Brazilian forward Farley Rosa in a 3-0 defeat on Sunday.
The 24-year-old Rosa struck two sensational goals (7, 87) in this matchday 21 clash in Agrinio, with Tasos Ysokanis also weighing in with another goal for Traianos Dellas’ rejuvenated team from Agrinio.
It’s an outcome which leaves bottom-of-the-table Platanias six points adrift of safety with only nine matches to play, while Panaitolikos move up to 11th place with 23 points.
|Apollon Smyrnis||1 - 1||Levadiakos|
|Bartolini 54'||Giakoumakis 67'|
Meanwhile back in Athens, fellow struggler Apollon Smyrnis missed out on claiming a vital three-point haul as they were held to a 1-1 home draw by Levadiakos.
Sebastian Bartolini opened the scoring for Apollon in the 54th minute after an evenly-matched first half ended goalless.
But the home side could not hold on for the win as Petros Giakoumakis levelled the match after 67 minutes to set up a tense finish.
Neither side were able to find a crucial second goal and the match ended in a draw, which did help Apollon move one point clear of the relegation zone, while Levadiakos are nestled in the mid-table security of ninth place.
