At first, even before Ivic’s departure was officially announced, Michel had prepared a list of 50 coaches to replace the Serbian manager. Michel along with president Savvides seem to have come down to four options to replace Ivic and the first contacts are set to be underway.

Although direct reports from the club have not mentioned any names, sources state that Oscar Garcia is number one on the list. The 44-year old boss led Red Bull Salzburg to both the Austrian Bundesliga and Cup titles this season and is ready for a new challenge in his career. However, his case is a difficult one, as French club Saint-Etienne seem to have already approached the Spaniard, although nothing has official been confirmed.

Another name that has come up in recent reports is that of Michel Preud'homme. The 58-year old manager, who has been voted as Belgian “Manager of the Year” on three occasions, has drawn the attention of PAOK and unlike Garcia, he could come to Thessaloniki as a free agent.

Third on this list seems to be Razvan Lucescu. The Romanian, a former acquaintance of Michel, is experienced in Greek football having led Xanthi to successful campaigns over the years and could surely adapt quickly with the Dikefalos tou Vora.

The fourth name on PAOK’s list has not being released as it is rumoured that it is an extremely difficult option and requires careful handling by the club.

PAOK are hoping to resolve the coaching situation within the coming days as Lubos Michel has already left for Europe to make contact with two coaches. The goal is to have a new head coach by the end of the week and in the case that things do not work out with Michel’s contacts, Razvan Lucescu will be the new favorite to take over the Thessalonikis. Similar to Olympiacos’ coaching fiasco, Lucescu is on standby and will await for PAOK’s phone call if the club’s first options do not pan out.
